What's New in the World of Infection Control and Prevention?
Mary Govoni, CDA, RDH is CEO and Owner of Clinical Dynamics/Mary Govoni & Associates. She presents seminars on OSHA and HIPAA compliance, ergonomics, efficiency, and team building.
This course will present updated information on Infection Control and Prevention from the CDC, OSHA, and public health agencies. Topics include dental unit waterline protocols and technology, quality assurance in instrument reprocessing, PPE, air quality in treatment rooms, and new disinfectants and disinfecting technology. Participants will also learn about infectious disease trends in the U.S. and how to ensure patients and teams that their dental environment is safe.
- Identify changes to CDC guidelines and OSHA regulations that are applicable to dentistry
- Evaluate current practices for delivering safe water from dental units
- Identify standards and guidelines for indoor air quality and controlling aerosols
- Decide appropriate PPE for aerosol-generating vs. non-aerosol generating procedures
- Discuss new products and technology for treatment room disinfection
- Assess current infection prevention and control protocols for effectiveness
