Matthew Horan, DMD, MPH is a dentist and champion for equitable, upstream-focused innovations that improve access to care and health outcomes while reducing costs and providing better experience for patients and providers.
Dr. Horan received his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Master of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts with a capstone focus on including oral health within accountable care organizations.
Dr. Horan is an alumnus of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s National Health Service Corps and a former MassHealth Access Program’s Dental Student Community Health Award recipient.
As Dental Director at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Dr. Horan focuses on improving statewide oral health surveillance, disease prevention, access to care, workforce development, and integrating oral health across all healthcare settings.
His past responsibilities include practicing as a dentist and dental director at federally qualified community health centers in Massachusetts. He also served as the Director of Oral Health for the Boston Public Health Commission and previously served as Chair of the Massachusetts Dental Society’s Council on Dental Care.
Dr. Horan is a dental faculty member at Boston University and Tufts School of Dental Medicine.
