With periodontal diseases being considered as inflammatory over infection, discovery and treatment enters a new era. We now have systems to determine a patient’s risk at chairside and coordinate with the AAP Classification of Periodontal and Implant disease. Be exposed to salivary diagnostics to measure inflammatory messengers. Balance patient’s oral hygiene from microbial to anti-inflammatory with diet (probiotics/nutraceuticals), and stress as variables in controlling disease. Minimally invasive techniques will be reviewed including laser light energy and photobiomodulation.

Speakers

After this course attendees will be able to:

  • Assess an approach for managing inflammation as a systemic and local immune response with antioxidants
  • Recognize management of periodontitis as a major chronic inflammatory systemic disease
  • Incorporate the new paradigm of periodontal medicine into the practice
  • Consider genetics, diet (probiotics/nutraceuticals), and stress as variables in controlling disease
