Emerging research highlights the potential of periodontal therapy to significantly reduce markers of systemic inflammation, prompting dental professionals to broaden their focus beyond just oral health. Numerous in vivo studies have demonstrated that biofilm, rather than dental calculus accumulation, is the primary etiological factor in periodontal disease. Calculus removal and biofilm removal are distinct procedures; although some tools can be utilized for both, certain tools exhibit superior efficacy in biofilm disruption. This course delves into two decades of research on biofilm dynamics, its persistent challenges, and its systemic impact, while also covering the latest advancements in air polishing technology. Attendees will explore innovative tools, techniques, and products specifically designed for biofilm management, distinct from those used for calculus. By the end of this course, attendees will be equipped with advanced knowledge to enhance their periodontal treatment protocols effectively.
