The oral/systemic link is based on the connection between vascular health and inflammation. Heart attacks and ischemic strokes are triggered by an inflammatory process that can be initiated and exacerbated by periodontal disease. High-risk periodontal pathogens are causal of atherosclerotic changes. The "Bale/Doneen Method" bridges the gap between medicine and dentistry while promoting optimal health and wellness in all patients while preventing heart attacks and strokes.

In this course additional information will be provided to investigate the science behind oxidative stress, arterial disease and oral health.

Speakers

After this course attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize silent atherothrombotic events as the cause of microvascular disease
  • Comprehend oxidative stress as the driver of arterial disease
  • Enumerate the importance of oral health in reducing oxidative stress
  • Investigate opportunities to network with the medical community to demonstrate your critical role in the prevention of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and dementia
  • Develop a pathway to implement optimal systemic health into your dental practice
