In this course, caries risk assessment will be reviewed, highlighting the importance of developing a personalized treatment plan. The principles of evaluating the tools of current emerging caried detection, assessment, and diagnostic methods as applied to caries and other dental hard tissue disorders will be presented. In addition, caries risk factors, risk indicators and protective factors will be discussed to address best treatment approach and ultimately educate patient. The whole dental team (dentist, dental assistant, hygienist) can take advantage of this review as caries continue to be the most common dental disease. Prevention is better than cure!
