Backed by 30 years of financial services experience, Cathy Burgess combines the passion of education that she learned from her mother, an educator and attorney, with the financial prowess and wisdom of her father, and banker and investment advisor, to influence positive change in the lives of others, ultimately drawing on the best of both her parents. Cathy focuses on translating the complexities of the investment and wealth management world into an effective, customized financial solution.
With a focus on pre- and post-retirement planning and working with those in a time of transition (divorce, loss of a loved one, marriage, career change), Cathy is proud to help those who may have a challenging time clarifying their financial matters on their own. Her fluency and comfort in working with the LGBTQIA community has led her to helping several clients find a sense of confidence in relation to their wealth. In doing so, Cathy utilizes her person experience and exposure to various organizations in the LGBTQIA community nationally.
Cathy is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM professional and a Retirement Income Certified Professional ®, and she maintains her Accredited Domestic Partner Advisor SM designation as well. Cathy received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston College where she was captain of the women’s golf team.
Cathy volunteers her time in the community in several ways. Cathy serves on the board of The Dignity Institute in greater Boston and is an active member of the Human Rights Campaign Federal Club Council. Cathy was a founding member of the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and former President of the Governor’s Academy Alumni Council. As a Cancer Survivor, Cathy is active in the Jimmy Fund Golf Program for Dana Farber Cancer Institute, both as a player participant as well as a frequent guest speaker.
