In this course, providers will review and understand how to incorporate antibiotic stewardship in their practice. Unfortunately, many patients have the misconception that antibiotics will alleviate all of their pain or symptoms. While antibiotics are indicated for some situations, they are often overprescribed. We aim to review guidelines and clinical situations where antibiotics are indicated and not indicated to prevent misdiagnosis and avoid increase in resistance. As dental practitioners, we must be aware of the implications antibiotic prescriptions can have on our pateints' overall health.
