Malocclusion, mouth-breathing, loud breathing and poor sleep are just a few of the signs that your young patient may be experiencing. They may have an underlying condition that warrants further investigation. The dentist and dental team are important health care advocates that can assist in identifying a more serious risk for sleep apnea. Underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed children need our expertise in deciphering the clues that may be hindering their proper growth and development. Collaborative treatment that includes nutrition, oral myology, bodywork, and compliance all have a role in ensuring a more healthy pattern for daily functions of eating, breathing and sleeping.
Speakers
In this course attendees will:
- Develop tools to use during an exam of a sleep apnea child
- Learn about tongue tie procedures and how to implement myofunctional therapy exercises
- Explain how functional appliances, oral myology tools, and ancillary providers promote successful management of a sleep deprived young patient
- Review important concepts in 3D imaging that can help educate and support recommended treatment
The CareCredit grant has been applied to this course.
