This course will cover the connections between oral and overall health and will teach everything you need to know about oral care products. From ingredients to use and avoid, to natural versus conventional products, to prebiotics, probiotics, antibiotics, essential oils, and more.
Speakers
After this course attendees will be able to:
- Understand the connections between oral health and systemic health
- Review the oral microbiome and the role of the billions of microbes in the mouth
- Identify less-known risk factors for dental caries
- Compare "natural" versus "conventional" products
- Define safe and effective ingredients (and those to avoid) in various products
- Identify the role of antibiotics, prebiotics, and probiotics in oral care
- Describe and discuss toothbrush design, safety, and efficacy
- Explain the comparison and contrast of fluoride and hydroxyapatite: pros and cons
