YANKEE DENTAL 2017 AWARD WINNERS

 ETHERINGTON AWARD

 Dr. J. Steven Tonelli
Yankee Dental Congress is pleased to present the prestigious 2017 Etherington Award to Dr. J. Steven Tonelli of Andover, MA. This award is given annually in recognition of New England dentists who dedicate much of their professional lives furthering the high ideals and objectives of organized dentistry. A graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Tonelli has sat on the Board of Advisors at Tufts since 2009. He also received a post graduate degree from UMass Memorial Hospital. Dr. Tonelli is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists, where he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 2016. He is a faculty member and on the Board of Directors at Pankey Institute. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, serving on numerous committees over the years and is past chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). He continues to be an active Yankee volunteer and has chaired numerous committees including Signs, Publicity and Promotion, Registration, Allied & Scientific, General Arrangements, Special Events, Yankee Oversight, and Yankee General Chair. Dr. Tonelli owns and maintains a private practice in North Reading, MA.


 CLINICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

 Dr. James Cinamon
Dr. James Cinamon has been a featured lecturer at Yankee Dental Congress for over ten years. He has also chaired numerous Yankee committees, including General Arrangements, Program, and Special Events. Dr. Cinamon served five years as a MDS Trustee and is also a past clinical instructor at Harvard University. He has been awarded fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Dentistry. Dr. Cinamon maintains a private practice in Framingham, MA, where he resides.


 ELIZABETH A. BAER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

 Ms. Karen Hart
Karen Hart has been a CDA and member of the American Dental Assistants Association and the Massachusetts Dental Assistants Association for over twenty years. She has served as Vice President of the MDAA South Shore District as well as an active member of the Allied Dental Health Committee in the Metropolitan District. Ms. Hart is currently the front desk administrator for a dental practice in Wellesley, MA.


 HYGIENIST OF THE YEAR AWARD

 Ms. Jacklyn Ventura
For over 29 years, Jacklyn Ventura has proven her dedication to the profession through volunteer work and involvement in community initiatives. In 2010, she founded MASS Children Health Smiles which serves in over 110 locations across 19 cities and towns, providing dental care for at-risk populations. In 2012, Ms. Ventura expanded the company to include adults and is presently serving over 76 locations in Massachusetts. She is a trustee for the MDHA and a member of the Bristol Community College Advisory Board. Ms. Venutura is currently the External Clinic Coordinator at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA.


 JOHN GOLDEN AWARD

 Dr. Andrea Richman
Dr. Andrea Richman’s career-long volunteer service to dentistry began immediately after graduating dental school. She became involved in her district and with the Women’s Dental Society of MA. Her involvement with Yankee began shortly after when she became a room coordinator in the early 1980’s. Dr. Richman has gone on to chair a variety of committees including Allied, Scientific, Publicity & Promotion, Registration, Sponsorship, Hospitality, as well as General Chair of Yankee in 2000. In addition to her ongoing Yankee duties, Dr. Richman, a MDS Past President, is on the Board of Directors for EDIC and chair of the MDS Audit Committee. She also serves as 1st District Trustee to the ADA Council on Annual Sessions. Dr. Richman owned the only general dental office in Carlisle, MA from 1980-2013, and currently resides in Newton, MA with her husband, Michael.


 ARMEN NALBAND AWARD

 Dr. Cherie Bishop
A member of the Massachusetts Dental Society since 1995, Dr. Cherie Bishop has been a volunteer for the Yankee Dental Congress for close to a decade. Over the years, Dr. Bishop has been an active volunteer for almost every committee and has served as Chair of multiple committees including Hospitality, Registration, General Arrangements, and Special Events. She is a member of the Yankee Oversight Committee and was an MDS Guest Board member in 2008-09. She was also the recipient of the Volunteer Heroes Award in 2009. Dr. Bishop is a fellow of both the Pierre Fauchard Academy and a International College of Dentists as well as a member of the American Association of Women Dentists. A Tufts University School of Dental Medicine graduate, Dr. Bishop is in a private practice in Chestnut Hill, MA.


 VIVIAN CHAPUT AWARD

 Mrs. Diane Giamberardino
Diane Giamberardino has enjoyed attending the Yankee Dental Congress for over 30 years and has been an active volunteer in the Social and Cultural program for the past 15 years. She has also served as Chair of the Social and Cultural Committee. Mrs. Giamberardino’s interests include oil and watercolor painting, gardening, kayaking, and traveling with family and friends. She is married to MDS Past-President Dr. Anthony Giamberardino and together they have four grown sons. They divide their time between Wilmington, MA and Meredith, NH.


 VOLUNTEER AWARD FOR AUXILIARIES

 Ms. E. Jane Crocker
Yankee is pleased to honor E. Jane Crocker, RDH, for her allegiance and dedication to Yankee Dental Congress. Ms. Crocker, a registered dental hygienist for over a decade, has been a Yankee volunteer since 2008. She has volunteered as both a presiding chair and room coordinator as well as participating in Team Smile in 2016. Ms. Crocker is an active member of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienist’s Association (MDHA) serving as secretary in 2007-08 and president of the Worcester component since 2006.
